Applied to compatible torch nozzles, fixtures, jigs or nearby workpiece areas, it forms a protective film that resists welding heat. Spatter landing on the treated area can then be brushed, tapped or wiped away more easily. The product prevents adhesion; it does not stop spatter from forming. Correct machine settings, wire feed, shielding gas and operator technique remain essential. Why silicone-free matters

Silicone-free formulation is especially important when welded parts will later be painted, powder coated or otherwise finished. Silicone contamination is associated with coating defects such as craters and fisheyes. Choosing a silicone-free anti-spatter product helps reduce that particular risk.

Paste is generally preferred where a concentrated, targeted film is required. Spray formats may be more convenient for larger workpiece areas. Many fabrication shops use both, depending on the job.

How to use anti-spatter paste

1. Cool and clean the torch. Allow the torch front end to cool to the temperature stated in the product instructions. Remove existing spatter and loose contamination.

2. Apply only where recommended. Dip or coat the nozzle only to the depth permitted by the manufacturer. Avoid excessive immersion and prevent paste from entering the wire-feed path, gas diffuser or weld joint.

3. Treat fixtures and nearby areas. Brush an even film onto compatible jigs, fixtures, positioners or surrounding workpiece areas where spatter commonly lands.

4. Weld and remove deposited spatter. After welding, allow the part to cool safely, then brush, tap or wipe loose spatter from treated surfaces.

5. Reapply as required. The release film is gradually consumed during use. Reapply according to the product instructions and the severity of the welding operation.

6. Clean before painting. Remove remaining paste and prepare the component according to the coating manufacturer's process before priming or painting.

Apply an even film sufficient to cover the target area. Excessive buildup wastes product and increases the risk of material reaching areas where it is not required.
